Description
The ninth plague over Egypt is rendered as a chamber swallowed in unnatural night. One Egyptian man stretches his hands upward against a stone pillar, searching through the darkness, while another sits bowed and motionless beside household vessels and a harp. The room’s familiar comforts become useless under the judgment of God, and even the air seems heavy with dread. This scene portrays the plague described in Exodus 10, when the Lord commanded Moses to stretch out his hand toward heaven and a darkness that could be felt covered Egypt for three days. The event contrasts Pharaoh’s hardened resistance with God’s sovereign power over creation, exposing the impotence of Egypt’s false securities and preparing the way for Israel’s deliverance. Strong for teaching on the Exodus, divine judgment, repentance, spiritual blindness, and God’s authority over the nations.
