17 Pentru că Hristos nu m-a trimis să botez, ci să vestesc evanghelia, dar nu cu înţelepciunea cuvântului, ca nu cumva crucea lui Hristos să fie în zadar.18 Căci cuvântul despre cruce este nebunie pentru cei ce pier, dar pentru noi, cei ce ne mântuim, este puterea lui Dumnezeu.
Hebrews 12
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Philippians 2
5 Gândiţi şi voi la fel ca Hristos Iisus,6 care fiind din fire Dumnezeu, nu a profitat de egalitatea sa cu Dumnezeu,7 ci s-a golit pe sine şi a luat chip de rob, făcându-se asemenea oamenilor, fiind cunoscut după înfăţişare ca om.8 S-a smerit pe sine, făcându-se ascultător până la moarte şi încă moarte pe cruce.
